32x32x32cm cube on 26cm printer?

Interesting challenge to tackle, but possible. Purpose of the cube was a design school project, to show something off. Goal was a cube, 32x32x32cm big.

My first thought was, does it have to come in one peace? Answer was "no". That moment I immediately knew, it is for sure possible, to build like a snap-fit puzzle. The 32cm long sides were printed across the plate. They were just able to fit right there. Maybe even 33-34 would be possible.

Also, no project would be complete, without something challenging on it. Here it was time... I have had just one try, otherwise the project would not be done on time...

So first I went through some drawings, sketches and some designing. Tried to keep it as simple, as possible.

Here ran some of my initial thoughts, how to make it in at least parts, as possible.

Okay, so design done, 2 parts that build up the whole 32x32x32cm cube. Cool. Now I headed of to printed, and started printing. The thing was, that we both knew, that it was not possible, to make it on time without car, so I asked my father, if he could make the ride, to the customer...

Above I attach the final design, and product. Both sides satisfied. (One with a bit less sleep :-)
